Non-Minimal Deformations of the Helicoid.
The first four images are the same surface, with mean curvature $H=0.001$.
On the small scale it looks like a helicoid. On the large scale it looks something like a chain of
large spheres. The basepoint for the deformation is on the central axis of the catenoid.
